Knowledge management
Knowledge is an essential means of production for the present-day organisation. Knowledge management is the structured and effective application of knowledge as a means of production. In our opinion, this requires that attention be given to three aspects in relation to one another: strategy & organisation, methods of knowledge transfer and tools & systems.
Application of knowledge in the organisation and the value chain
Knowledge can be used within the organisation and in the entire value chain. The value chain also comprises, for instance, suppliers, partner companies, retailers, contractors and the clients and end-users.
Knowledge is probably an essential means of production in your organisation too. For example:
- Knowledge for market development, product development and R&D
- Knowledge for marketing, purchasing and sales
- Knowledge for production activities
- Knowledge for the installation, use and maintenance of products
- Knowledge for the execution of administrative processes
- Knowledge for services and support
We are happy to help you determine what knowledge is essential to your organisation, both now and in the future. By working with you, we can ensure that the knowledge that your organisation requires is available at the right time, in the right form and for the right person.
Success factors
Above all, knowledge management is carried out by people. We therefore give a great deal of attention to people and organisation in every project. The application of ICT is often necessary or desired, but it is always a means that is supported by people.
The most important success factors for the application of knowledge management include the following. Together with our customers, we ensure compliance with these.
- Knowledge management evidently contributes to the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- The target groups have a true need for knowledge that is more higly applicable.
- The target groups are convinced of the importance of more knowledge and they too wish to actively contribute to the improvement of knowledge.
- The knowledge available is of value to the daily activities.
- The correct means and work formats have been chosen for the transfer of knowledge.
- The correct methods and means have been chosen for developing, recording and managing knowledge, as well as for making it accessible. It is very important that these are feasible in practice.
- The formats and means used are in keeping with the organisational values and culture.
Competence management
Competences and a certain attitude are required for the effective application of knowledge. The combination of required knowledge, skills and attitude is a competence. Nowadays, we also frequently speak of competence management. In our view, competence management forms part of knowledge management.
